DISTRICT 14C WILL PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICES TO OUR LOCAL AND WORLD COMMUNITIES THROUGH EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION TO SERVE THOSE IN NEED.
The District is comprised of Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs located throughout the Adams, Cumberland and York Counties.
The District Governor heads the District with the support of two Vice District Governors, Region and Zone Chairpersons, and Administrative and Project Chairpersons.
The District provides services and supports projects for sight and hearing impaired, educational programs for children at risk, diabetes, drug awareness, blood donations as well as community needs.
A president heads each club. The clubs support the District goals and also establish goals that meet the specific needs of their local communities.
DG Shirley A. Starner (2011-2012)
District Governor Shirley became a Lion in 1992, having been inducted in LCI, while living in Venice Florida. She was active on many committees and chaired several new projects. Shirley assisted in a Lions sponsored monthly Eye Screening for low income families, which included blood pressure assessment, blood sugar evaluation and medical history. Referrals were made according to the findings and financed by the Lions.
She and her husband Clair (a Lion for over 50 years) moved back to Pennsylvania in 2003, transferring their memberships to the Weigelstown Lions Club. Shirley was President of the club, 2007-2008 and Zone Chairperson (Zone 3-B) from July 2008-June 2010. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has received numerous Certificates of Achievement.
DG Shirley is a graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing. She holds an undergraduate degree from Millersville University and graduate degrees from Shippensburg University and Villanova University respectively. She is a retired Professor in Nursing from York College of Pennsylvania.
She and her husband are the parents of four children, seven grandchildren and one great-daughter.
Shirley enjoys spending time with the family, traveling, reading, golfing and meeting new people.
